1. Dave In Dixie - Sadler was pushing this colt for Graded earning but in reality it looks like he pushed way to hard. A freshening and some nice works after a declining form may have been what was needed. Calvin Borel gets the call.

2. Spangled Star - I like Gomez but thats about all for this Dutrow NW2L runner in the The Belmont. A different race sure... but not here.

3. Uptowncharlybrown - A sad story could have a fairytale ending and why not... the late Seewald loved this horse and these guys as owners. Having a consistant form and nice Beyer #'s this horse will improve and should be in the mix all summer long.

4. Make Music For Me - The PP's on this guy throw question marks.. I like this horse in an Overnight Stake or Handicap race on the grass. Sure he ran 4th in the Derby... I am confused but then again who am I? I guess you never know, he might be making music and singing I Love New York with a check for $600,000 Saturday evening.

5. Fly Down - I love Zito in NY and this fella has been over the track for an impressive Dwyer win in early May. Very strong works and he gets J. Velazques up... I will take 9-2 and have him in all my exotics.

6. Ice Box - Loved this horse since the Fountain of Youth, had him in the FL Derby and the KY Derby. Again Zito, basically the same workout routine as Fly Down (Zito trained). He is going to love the long stretch run at Belmont. Winner!!

7. Drosselmeyer - Ran 2nd to Fly Down but by 6 lengths in the Dwyer. He shows ability to make up ground late but I see him getting close early stretch and hanging late.

8. Game On Dude - Baffert's only entry in The Belmont. Posted a nice Beyer (96) in the LS Derby but it was a 6 horse race and he was the odds on favorite. Not overly impressed although this will be Baffert's 3rd start with him so he may improve. Should be one to watch out for later this summer.

9. Stately Victor - He beat Paddy O'Prado and First Dude in the Blue Grass but was nowhere in the Derby. Not for me today...

10. Stay Put - Having a decent 3yo season but not with this class of horses. Optional $50k and 100K races are nowhere near G1 classics.

11. First Dude - How many does he open up by? Can Dominguez keep enough in the tank for the never ending stretch at Belmont. I think this is just too much distance especially if he goes the Preakness pace. I would like to see him slow it down to a walk early.

12. Interactif - Pletcher bring his Blue Grass favorite into The Belmont as a 12-1 ML. His last 2 wins came on the turf in the fall of 2009. Stick to the poly track or turf.

Ok.. so now my picks..... Ice Box (6), Fly Down (5), Uptowncharlybrown (3) and Dave In Dixie (1) Longshot
